Contest: Aerospace National Qualifier - 2007 Results and Pictures

Location: Youth Discovery Center at the Ohio Expo Center
This class is designed as a demonstration of skills and knowledge acquired by youth in the area of model rocketry. Click here for 4-H Aerospace links.
1. Each participant will take a written examination of 20 questions related to model rocketry and general aerospace topics.
2. Each participant will identify 10 model rocket parts and describe their functions.
3. Each participant is to bring one model rocket to present for evaluation purposes. Evaluation will be based on rocket appearance and construction including, but not limited to: fins, engine mount, launch lug, recovery system, nose cone, finish and overall general appearance. There are no restrictions of model rocket type, size or engine size.
4. Each participant will give a 5 to 10 minute oral description of the process of launching a rocket. Visual aids, in addition to the model rocket, may be used.
5. The individual with the lowest score (or number of penalty points) will represent Ohio at the National
Engineering, Science & Leadership Event at Purdue University in September 2007.
The Contest is a National Qualifying Event. The winner will earn a place on the Ohio
4-H Engineering team. They will receive an expense paid trip to compete at the National 4-H Engineering, Science, & Leadership Event at Purdue University, in September 2008.
