Classes:

J-7 Radio Controlled Vehicles
-Junior This class is for 4-H members 13 and younger as of January 1. Judging shall consist of a project interview focusing on the member's knowledge of mechanical and electrical components contained in their car or truck, along with an understanding of electric motors, batteries, and chargers. In addition, members will be required to bring their radio controlled car or truck for an evaluation of construction and set-up, as well as operate their vehicle on a carpeted maneuverability course. (Maneuverability times are used in the event of a tie in judging scores.) This class is restricted to electric R/C cars and trucks. No radio controlled boats, airplanes, or gas vehicles allowed.

J-8 Radio Controlled Vehicles - Senior This class is for 4-H members 14 and older as of January 1. Judging shall consist of a project interview focusing on the member's knowledge of mechanical and electrical components contained in their car or truck, along with an understanding of electric motors, batteries, and chargers. In addition, members will be required to bring their radio controlled car or truck for an assessment of construction and set-up, as well as operate their vehicle on a carpeted maneuverability course. (Maneuverability times used in the event of a tie in judging scores.) This class is restricted to electric R/C cars and trucks. No radio controlled boats, airplanes, or gas vehicles allowed.

J-9 Radio Controlled Vehicles - Self Determined This is for Level 3 project members described in page 4 of the project manual. Member manual #365, Self-Determined Project, must be used. It is designed to allow for creativity and originality in the field of radio control. No maneuverability will be necessary as it may include the building of field equipment. If a member has designed their own vehicle they should expect to demonstrate it on the carpet. Self-designed vehicles must be original and not a copy of a kit vehicle, although it may be necessary to use some pre-manufactured parts. You must demonstrate a very thorough understanding of the project and may want to include any technical references which you used. NO HOME-MADE TRANSMITTERS WILL BE ALLOWED DUE TO FCC LICENSING LAWS. This class is restricted to electric R/C cars and trucks. No radio controlled boats, airplanes, or gas vehicles allowed.
