About Julie Miller

Julie Miller was a 4-H member for nine years. She was an outstanding 4-Her who served as a camp counselor and Junior Fairboard member in Erie County. She also competed successfully at the Ohio State Fair. She received 8 Outstanding of the Day Awards, 4 Clock trophies and earned a spot as the Electric Representative on Ohio's 4-H Engineering Team in 2004. She placed 3rd in the Electric Contest at the National 4-H Engineering, Science and Leadership Event, in West Lafayette, Indiana in September 2004. She was also part of the Ohio Engineering Bowl team which took 1st place at that National Event.

She had a wide range of interests in her 4-H projects from microwave cooking, small pets, sewing, creative arts, interior design, to electronics. Her passion and career goal was electrical engineering.

In November 2004 tragedy struck; she was in a car wreck. This left her in a coma. After struggling to recover for 8 months, she passed away on July 22, 2005.

The Julie Miller Memorial Award is awarded at the Ohio State Fair and honors the top female in the Ohio 4-H Electric Contests.
