Soil Property Database

A comprehensive soil property database is being developed as a major component of the Ohio Agricultural Water Management Guide. The soil property database includes soil physical and chemical parameters required for the evaluation, design, construction, and operation and management of agricultural water management systems and their components for the central concept of all of the state’s soil series. Focal areas for the use of the soil database include: agricultural drainage; crop production irrigation; subirrigation and controlled drainage; constructed wetlands for agricultural waste and water treatment, and water supply and storage; environmental considerations, including chemical leaching indices, wastewater irrigation, etc. The database is a product developed by the Ohio Agricultural Water Management Guide Working Group, and will be accessible at a web site later in 1998.

Soil Property Database for Design, Construction, Operation and Management of Agricultural Water Management Systems for Irrigation, Constructed Wetlands, Drainage, and Environmental Considerations

The paper provides an overview of the process of developing the database and its components, a summary of the information itself, the review process, and a summary of the potential applications.

We have posted below a number of tables in MS Excel format for downloading. Many of them have futher notes supplementing the respective tables.

Table S-5:Soil Properties Related to Irrigation (PDF) & Notes to Table S-5
( Please note that these tables are still under review and some changes in the future may be possible).
