Postsecondary Credits
Many students will take courses in high school that award
college credit. This is a commendable act that will aid in
your ability to graduate in a timely manner, squeeze in extra
internships and study abroad programs, or to take additional
courses that you would not have been able to fit in.
The most common ways that students earn this credit is through
Advanced Placement courses or through taking actual college
courses (in Ohio this is called the Post-Secondary Option).
The Post-Secondary Option courses transfer into Ohio State
just like you were transferring as a current university student.
The Course
Applicability System will allow you to match courses at
other universities in Ohio with courses taught at The Ohio
State University. Just click on Course Equivalency Guide
on the left side of the page. If a course is not listed, it
may simply mean that it is not regularly transferred to The
Ohio State University. You should also reference the
sample four year plan for your intended major when choosing
courses to take through the Post-Secondary Option.
You can view the Advanced Placement or CLEP test scores needed
to earn Ohio State credit by visiting our Office
of Testing web site (click on Credit by Examination
and scroll to the bottom).
