FUTURE FRESHMEN STARTING SOMEWHERE ELSE
< Home < Future Students < Future Freshmen < Starting Somewhere Else

Some students chose to start their college education as a FUTURE Buckeye. Because of technology, the process of transferring into The Ohio State University is an increasingly easier process. The universities and colleges in the state of Ohio that offer coursework in agriculture, horticulture, and natural resources are all members of a consortium called the Ohio Collegiate Agricultural Educators (OCAGE). Their web site can help you locate a college or university in your area that offers coursework that is transferable into the College of Food, Agricultural, and Environmental Sciences at The Ohio State University.

Another helpful resource is the Course Applicability System (CAS). Just click on Course Equivalency Guides on the left side of the page and follow the instructions to see how courses transfer into The Ohio State University from your chosen university within the state of Ohio.

For a general idea as to what courses at your present university/college are going to pertain to your goal of graduating from OSU, you should reference the curriculum guide for your expected major. These can be found on the Current Students Majors web page.  Course descriptions (click on the current quarter and then bulletin next to the department you are looking for) for courses within your expected major's curriculum guide should also be compared to descriptions at your present university to pick the most suitable courses for transferring.

Coursework taken prior to high school graduation does not make you a transfer student. You will still apply to OSU as a freshman and be treated as a freshman in regards to academic services, financial aid and housing requirements. Some aspects of student life, such as parking passes, revert to the total number of credit hours you have earned. The grades you receive at other universities will not average into your OSU grade point average. It should be noted that when applying to graduate school and for some jobs, official transcripts must be sent from the originating university and all grades are typically averaged.
