Transferring Credits
Students
may choose to transfer to OSU from another institution or
just take courses at another institution when time is available.
An example would be to take a course or two close to home
during the summer break from OSU. Transferring credit from
another university can be a very simple process; however,
due to the time required to process the transfer of credits,
it cannot be officially completed until you have been admitted
to The Ohio State University. Planning is the key for ease
in transferring credits. Be familiar with the courses you
need at the institution from which you are seeking your degree
before beginning the process of choosing courses elsewhere.
To determine
how your credits will transfer to Ohio State University from
another university in Ohio , go to http://osu.transfer.org/cas/index.jsp
. Enter as a guest login, click on Course Equivalency
Guide, and select Ohio and The Ohio State University as the
institution being transferred into. You will then be prompted
to select the college from which you will be transferring
and you will see a listing of course applicability between
OSU and other colleges.
If
your particular course is not listed, it may be that it is
not regularly transferred into The Ohio State University;
therefore some courses must be manually transferred upon admission
to OSU. Credit for remedial work at other institutions will
not be transferred into Ohio State . Most importantly, you
must have received at least a grade of ‘C-‘in order for a
course to transfer. An exception to this policy is granted
for students who complete an Associate of Science or an Associate
of Arts with a cumulative grade point of 2.0 or better. Those
students will receive transfer credit for all college level
courses in which a grade of D or D+ has been earned.
Grade
point averages from other universities are not averaged into
your Ohio State point-hour-ratio. It should be noted that
when applying, most universities require original transcripts
from each of the universities you have attended. Visit the
University Registrar’s site on Transfer
Credit to answer more of your questions.
