Overview of the Community Development
Strategic Planning Process
Below is a brief overview of the CD Strategic Planning
Process
- A strategic planning steering committee met for almost a
year to develop a process and collect information.
- Based on clientele and Extension professionals’ feedback
the group narrowed our focus to three key educational areas:
- Discovering Economic and Workplace Innovation
- Enhancing Community Quality of Life
- Creating Community and Educational Excellence
- A meeting of CD and other interested Extension
Professionals met in the Fall of 2004 and developed a list program initiatives
under each educational area.
- This list was posted to the system for feedback and
comments. Concurrently, existing teams were asked to submit information for
inclusion. The current list of program suggestions can be found here.
- At a CD Specialist Quarterly meeting, three individual
specialists were chosen to provide leadership to coordinate direction under
each educational areas for the March 17, 2005 Strategic Planning meeting. They
are:
- Discovering Economic and Workplace Innovation – Greg
Davis
- Enhancing Community Quality of Life – Don Lacy
- Creating Community and Educational Excellence – Chet
Bowling
- These leaders will provide coordination to get the teams
together on March 17. This meeting will serve as a vehicle to increase the
focus of each educational area. Project teams will be formed in each program
area. Existing teams can be used as well. This will form the nucleus of the
CD program teams for the next five years.
- Specific CD funding will be available on a competitive
basis to teams and/or projects.
- Regional updates on the teams and their progress are
planned for late summer/fall 2005.
