I. Title of Program or Issue:

Household Hazardous Waste for Teachers

A. Situational Statement:

Household hazardous waste continues to be a high priority topic in many commu nities and teachers feel comfortable with the "fit" of this topic into a science curriculum.

B. Description/Educational Objectives:

This is a teacher training workshop to provide educators with background information and hands-on opportunities for experiential activities. The training materials include a teachers' resource packet of activities.

C. Suggested Time Required for Program; Time of Year:

3 hours; September/October - March

D. Audience and Level of Offering:

Teachers - elementary; community; County

E. Teaching Methods, Resources, Costs:

Discussion; Learning station
Supplies cost approximately $30 at a discount store
Teachers' resource packet is about $4 to copy
