A) NO-TILL CONFERENCE ANNOUNCEMENT (Ron Hammond) CORN Questions

For those interested in no-till production, the 8th National No-Till Conference sponsored by the No-Till Farmer publication is being held in Cincinnati, OH, on January 10-13, 2001. This is an excellent opportunity to attend a national meeting that is being held within a few hours drive for most Ohio growers. B) HERBICIDE REDUCTION WORKSHOP SCHEDULED (Mike Hogan) CORN Questions

An on-farm workshop on the topic of reducing herbicide use in grain crop production will be held on Wednesday, August 23, 2000 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Charlie Eselgroth Farm near Greenfield in Ross County. Titled Practical, Profitable Strategies to Reduce Pesticide Inputs in Grain Crop Production, the workshop will feature field demonstrations and presentations by OSU faculty and industry representatives on the following topics: double nozzle sprayers, flame weeding, cover crops in no-till systems, and weed control in organic production systems. A tour will also be conducted of 14 organic corn variety trial plots on the farm.

Registration for the workshop including lunch is free to those who register by August 19th. Register by calling or writing Keith Dix, (330)262-1842, 1942 Bell Rd., Wooster, OH 44691. The workshop is sponsored by OSU Extension's Sustainable Agriculture Team, Innovative Farmers of Ohio, and Ohio Citizen Action.
