Information Breakfast
The
Darke Co. Agricultural Information Breakfast is a monthly meeting of
farmers, local elected officials, bankers, Realtors and general public
individuals. Anyone that would like to participate in an open
round table discussion of current community and agricultural issues is
invited.
The group
meets on the first Thursday of each month (7:30 a.m.) at The Brethren
Home - 750
Chestnut St. Greenville, OH 45331.
Land
Rent and Crop Insurance Information for Farmers
The Darke County OSU Extension will
be
offering a Land Rent and Crop Insurance Information meeting for farmers
on Monday,
January 5, 2008 starting at 6:30 p.m. The meeting will be held at the
Darke
County Extension office located at
603 Wagner
Ave. Greenville, OH
(next to
Edison
State Community
College).
Steve Foster, Darke County
Agricultural
Extension Agent will provide information on 2009 agronomic crop
budgets, how to
calculate land rent values and land rent agreement options.
Emphasis will be placed on flexible land rent
agreements.
Dudley Lipps, Farm Credit Services, will be discussing crop
insurance
options available to producer in 2009.
Insurance options will include:
Crop Revenue Coverage (CRC)- A whole-farm revenue guarantee, and
Multi-Peril
Crop Insurance (MPCI) - A whole-farm yield guarantee insurance that
protects
against low yields, poor quality, late planting, replanting costs and
prevented
planting due to natural disasters such as adverse weather, plant
disease,
insect or wildlife damage, and fire.

Darke County
Pesticide Recertification 2009
The Darke County OSU Extension will be holding its annual pesticide
recertification for area pesticide applicators on Wednesday, March 11,
2009 at the VFW Hall, 219
N. Ohio St. Greenville, Ohio.
The Afternoon Session
will be conducted from 12:00 pm to 4:15 pm. with the following
catagories being presented: Core, Category 1 (Grain/Cereal
Crops), Catagory 2 (Forages), Catagory 8 (Livestock/Livestock
Buildings), Catagory 10 (Stored Grains), Catagory 12 (Seed Treatment)
and Catagory 9 (Non-Cropland) will be offered only at 3:45 pm.
The Evening
Session will be conducted from 5:30 pm to 9:15 pm. with
the following catagories being presented: Core, Category 1
(Grain/Cereal Crops), Catagory 2 (Forages), Catagory 8
(Livestock/Livestock Buildings), Catagory 10 (Stored Grains), Catagory
12 (Seed Treatment).
Pre-registration is required for the
Darke County Program. The registration fee is $15.00 prior to
March 9, 2009. Registration after March 9th will be $25.00.
