Family and Consumer Sciences educators and specialists help build strong families. We offer programs and information in:

  • Childcare
  • Parenting
  • Family life
  • Adult development and aging
  • Balancing life, jobs and families and health

We also offer information in nutrition and food safety and help people manage money and prepare for retirement.


4-H is a community of young people nationwide who learn about leadership, citizenship and life skills. Participants include:

  • Over 300,000 young people, ages 5 to 19
  • Members of clubs, camps and after-school programs
  • 32,000 volunteers donating time, energies and talents to work with young people annually

Community Development educators and specialists enhance communities by working with:

  • Business community
  • Current and emerging community leaders
  • Elected and appointed officials

We provide perspectives to residents and leaders regarding local development issues, increase the knowledge base for individual and community decisions, develop clientele skills necessary to help achieve their individual and community goals, and help create an inclusive decision-making environment.


OSU Extension's Agriculture and Natural Resources educators help farmers, gardeners, landowners and businesses.

We help farmers:
  • Strengthen their businesses
  • Adopt new technology
  • Improve efficiency while protecting the environment
We help landowners:
  • Manage woodlands
  • Protect streams and watersheds
In addition, we train Master Gardeners who in turn extend research-based yard and garden information to Ohioans. We work with the green industries, from turf grass management to landscape and nursery companies.
