About Ohio Watershed Academy

The Ohio Watershed Academy (OWA) is a professional development course offered by Ohio State University Extension. The purpose of OWA is to build the capacity of current and future watershed group leaders in Ohio to facilitate the development and implementation of community-based watershed action plans. Graduates of the Academy include paid watershed coordinators and other water resource professionals, watershed group volunteers, county health department and planning agency staff, and university students and faculty. OWA is supported with a grant from the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency.

How to Become a Student

The Ohio Watershed Academy is held once a year. The current class began on Tuesday, February 20, 2007. Details about the next class will be available in the future.

Receiving College Credit

Students of the Ohio Watershed Academy can receive graduate credit hours for completing the Academy course. To receive credit, you will need to enroll in the Ohio State University and register for individual study hours through the School of Natural Resources. Ohio Watershed Academy Resources

Even if you are not a registered student in the Ohio Watershed Academy, you can browse through the Academy Lessons. The lessons are designed to familiarize watershed group leaders with a variety of topics related to collaborative watershed planning and implementation.
