About Us

In conjunction with the "Action Agenda for Ohio Watersheds" state budget initiative, Ohio State University Extension expanded its Community-based Watershed Management Program in mid-2000 by appointing five Extension Agents in Watershed Management.

These agents serve as educational resources for local watershed partnerships and have been assigned regions of Ohio as defined by the Ohio EPA hydrologic units. (View agent contact information and coverage areas.)

Audiences for the new OSU Watershed Agents include watershed groups and their communities; OSU Extension Agents; elected officials; teachers and students; collaborating agencies and other organizations. (View photos of the agents at work in the photo gallery.)

Responsibilities and Functions:

  • Provide leadership in developing river basin-wide non-formal education strategies.

  • Assist watershed work groups, non-profit organizations, and local governments.

  • Perform training and capacity-building to watershed groups.
