Aquatics Director
Job Description
I. Qualifications
- Must
be 21 years old or
older.
- Must
be certified as
Water Safety Instructor or equivalent.
- Must
have previous experience in a management or supervisory position at a
similar aquatic area of at least
6 weeks duration.
- Must
have current certification in standard first aid or equivalent.
- Must
have current certification in American Red Cross, C.P.R. or equivalent.
II. Responsibilities
- Directly
responsible to
N.E.O. 4-H Camp, Inc. Executive Director through the Program Director.
- Must
meet with the Program
Director/ Coordinator prior to camping season to become familiar with
the
waterfront supplies, etc. and to begin preparing lesson plans.
- Will
assist all waterfront
staff in the development and implementation of lesson plans for the
waterfront area.
- Directly
responsible
for all waterfront programs conducted at Camp Whitewood, whether
instructional or recreational, utilizing volunteer counselors to assist
in all programs.
- Is
jointly responsible,
with other waterfront staff, for the health/safety of instruction of
all
campers at the waterfront.
- Responsible
for
the opening and closing of the waterfront areas, including inventory of
equipment
at the beginning and ending of the camping program.
- Responsible
for conducting
periodic checks of all waterfront equipment.
- Is
responsible for the
daily opening and closing of the swimming and boating areas with the
assistance of the other waterfront staff.
- Be
present in program
areas 15 minutes prior to classes starting.
- Will
supervise
counselors during swimming opportunities
- Uphold
established, posted, rules approved by the camp at the waterfront areas.
- Oversee
the swimming
and boating programs that are in session at each scheduled program time.
- Shall
be on duty
and shall assist with special activities at the waterfront, such as
water
carnival, as scheduled by each camp program.
- Shall
be on duty to assist
with day camp and any other special programs using the camp waterfront
facilities in coordination and cooperation through the Program
Director/Coordinator.
- These
statements on duties
are not to be taken as the final and only work to be done by staff
members. Frequently it is necessary for individual staff members to
cooperate on a
project, which is important for the continued smooth operation of the
camp.
Such duties will be under the direction of the camp Executive Director.
III. All Staff and Directors
- Set an
example by conducting themselves in a proper manner.
- Observe
a habit of cleanliness of self and quarters.
- Be
present promptly at
meal times.
- Participate
in camp activities when possible.
- There
shall be no alcoholic beverages on Camp Whitewood grounds at anytime.
- Staff
Certified in C.P.
R. may have to administer resuscitation by means of a mechanical airway.
- Complete
a written evaluation and final inventory at the end of camping season.
