Forward
This brief history of 4-H Camp Whitewood
uses information from two earlier histories of the camp, from 4-H Camp
board minutes, Cooperative Extension Service annual reports, Ashtabula
County Historical Society, and from personal experiences of people
involved in the development of camp over the years.
Much credit must be given to the
group Northeast
Ohio Cooperative extension Service county agents and lay people of the
late
1930's who had the foresight and took much of their own time to locate
and
develop 4-H Camp Whitewood. It remains as a lasting tribute to
them
and to Mr. Tom White who donated the original parcel of land to
establish camp.
