Job Description

   Position Description:

This is a permanent, ongoing 9 to 10 month position to direct camp programming. The Program Director will be an employee of Northeast Ohio 4-H Camps, Inc., known as 4-H Camp Whitewood. Work schedule will be determined in consultation with the Executive Director. The camp address is 4-H Camp Whitewood, 7983 Wiswell Road, Windsor, Ohio, 44099.        

Job Responsibilities:

Plan, develop, review and update educational program materials including handbooks, program guides, promotional literature, exhibits, schedules, signage, etc.        

Assist in recruiting, hiring, and training of seasonal program staff and volunteers to conduct camp educational programming and support activities.        

Supervise staff and volunteers in daily program responsibilities. Assist in evaluation of program staff.        

Maintain communication between staff and clientele. Facilitate arrival and pre-camp orientation, coordinate schedules, and accommodate needs and concerns of clientele.        

Enforce policies and regulations for the safety and health of staff and clientele.
Keep training current and stay informed about trends in education, camping and recreation.        

Assist in oversight of maintenance, kitchen, housekeeping staff and contractual workers as requested by Executive Director.        

Maintain records as requested by Executive Director, Camp Board of Trustees, the Ohio State University and others as implied or required by law.        

Recommend program supplies and equipment purchases and maintain inventory of these materials. Order authorized supplies and equipment.  Equipment and supply management.        

Perform other duties as required or requested.
         

Qualifications:

Associate Degree or B.S. preferred, in environmental education, youth development, recreation or related fields. Willingness to obtain certifications that may be required in the future, for example, low or high ropes initiatives instruction, first aid, life guard/WSI, and C.P.R, etc.
        

Salary:  

Commensurate with experience/ credentials, range from $18,720-$22,880 yearly. 

Benefits include social security, annual vacation and allowance for medical insurance.                                                                      

Anticipated interview/start dates: Deadline for applications is February 7, 2005.  Candidates will be interviewed during the week of February 14, 2005. Anticipated start date is March 1, 2005.
