Shooting Sports Instructor
Job
Description
II.
Qualifications
- Must
be at least 18 years
old or older
- Have
shooting sports
instruction training in archery, riflery, and shot gun
- Satisfactory
completion
of Hunter Safety Course is recommended, but not required
- Should
be experienced
in teaching and working with young people for extended periods of
time.
II. Responsibilities
- Is
directly responsible
to Northeast Ohio 4-H Camps Inc., Camp Whitewood to the Executive
Director
through the Program Director
- Must
meet with the Program
Director/ Coordinator prior to camping season to become familiar with
the
nature center supplies, displays, etc. and to begin preparing lesson
plans.
- Be at
Lodge 15 minutes
or more (as needed) before shooting sports instruction periods to have
equipment, supplies, and area ready for activities.
- Responsible
for organizing
youth into teachable groups for shooting sports activities.
- Incorporate
creative
teaching techniques to inspire individual and team skill successes.
- Supervise
counselors
during Riflery/Archery class sessions.
- Supervise
all activities
to ensure safe conditions at range(s) during classes and general
free-time periods.
- Shall
be on duty and
assist with training day camp staff in the use of shooting sports
facilities, in coordination and cooperation of Program Director.
- Maintain
equipment in
good working order on a daily basis, and remove non-repairable
equipment
from use during camping season.
- These
statements on duties
are not to be taken as the final and only work to be done by staff
members. Frequently it is necessary for individual staff members to
cooperate on a
project, which is, important for the continued smooth operation of the
camp.
Such duties will be under the direction of the Camp Executive Director.
III. All Staff and Directors
- Set an
example by conducting themselves in a proper manner.
- Observe
a habit of cleanliness of self and quarters.
- Be
present promptly at
meal times.
- Participate
in camp activities when possible.
- There
shall be no alcoholic beverages on Camp Whitewood grounds at anytime.
- Staff
Certified in C.P.
R. may have to administer resuscitation by means of a mechanical airway.
- Complete
a written evaluation and final inventory at the end of camping season.
