The OCA Bull Test Committee, Staff and EORDC Facility Representatives

Bob Rhoades, Chairman (home phone - 937.526.5678; work phone - 937.316.3230): Bob, his wife Sonnie and their daughters own and operate Rhodes Charolais at their farm near Versailes, Ohio. In the Charolais business since the mid 60's, they include an embryo transfer program in their seed stock sales and have also consigned bulls to both the Ohio and Indiana bull test programs over the years. Bob and his family have been very involved in the show ring, exhibiting their cattle locally, state wide and nationally.

Dave Eversole, Vice Chairman (home phone - 740.862.6896; daytime work phone - 614.771.5588): Dave Eversole and his family are owners and operators of Eversole Angus in Baltimore, Ohio. The Angus herd was begun in 1938, is enrolled in the AHIR program and currently consists of 120 mama cows focusing predominately on carcass traits. Dave is a past Director of the OCA.

Eric Dorr (office phone - 614.873.6736): Eric Dorr is an OSU Extension Associate and OCA Director of Beef Improvement Programs. Eric is a new addition to the committee and comes to us from the Certified Angus Beef Program in Wooster, Ohio. His responsibilities will include representing OCA on the Bull Test Committee and other producer programs within Ohio.

Dr. Francis Fluharty: Francis Fluharty is a research scientist in ruminant nutrition at The Ohio State University. His responsibilities include conducting research in beef cattle nutrition and managing the OARDC Beef Center. Francis is directly involved in the formulation of the bull test feed ration.

Scott Murry (daytime phone - 740.852.9995): Scott Murry owns and manages a stocker cattle backgrounding operation in London, Ohio and serves as a Director of the Ohio Cattlemen's Association. Scott graduated from OSU, majoring in Ag Systems Management with a minor in Ag Econ. He also has experience as a commission cattle buyer and is co-owner of a fuel distributership.

Stan Smith (office phone - 740.653.5419; home phone - 614.837.4032): Stan Smith is an OSU Extension Program Assistant in Fairfield County and a member of the OSU Extension Beef Team. Stan and his family also maintain a herd of purebred Simmentals at their farm in Canal Winchester, Ohio, and are members of the Ohio and American Simmental Associations.

David Kohli, ex officio, (home phone - 740.477.3835; daytime work phone - 740.869.4276): Dave Kohli and his wife Phyliss maintain a herd of 70 purebred Simmental cows at their farm near Circleville, Ohio in northern Pickaway County. The Kohli's have been Simmental breeders since the early 80's and have consigned bulls to the Ohio, Indiana and West Virginia bull test programs over the years. They also cooperate with the Ohio State University College of Agriculture by making their herd available for classroom work.

Dr. Tom Turner, ex officio, (phone/voice mail - 614.292.4528; fax - 614.292.2929): Tom Turner is a faculty member in the Ohio State University Department of Animal Sciences and OSU Extension Beef Specialist. His Ph.D. is in beef cattle genetics and he works with this committee on the genetic evaluation of the bulls.

Anna Henry (OCA phone - 614.873.6736): Anna Henry is employed by the Ohio Cattlemen's Association and handles bull test registration, maintains the computerized test data and fields calls about the test that come through the OCA office. Anna graduated from The Ohio State University with a B.S. in Agriculture, majoring in Animal Science. She was also a member of the OSU General Livestock Judging Team and is 4-H advisor and Livestock Judging Coach in Madison County.

Wayne Shriver, Manager EORDC (phone/voice mail - 740.732.4275): In addition to his responsibilities as Manager of the EORDC farm where the Bull Test is located, Wayne Shriver owns 145 English cross brood cows and 120 stockers. Wayne is a member of the Guernsey County Cattlemen's Association and also serves on the OCA board. This is his eighth year to manage the Ohio Bull Test.

Kevin Stottsberry, EORDC Herdsman (daytime phone/voice mail - 740.732.4275; evenings - 740.732.7390): Kevin Stottsberry is the Ohio Bull Test Herdsman. He is employed by EORDC and his responsibilities include health, maintenance, feeding and other daily management of the bulls. Kevin and his family maintain a commercial cattle and sheep farm in Caldwell near EORDC. He also serves as President of the Noble County Cattlemen's Association.
