Tractor

Agricultural Tractor and Lawn Tractor are now on the same day. Both are August 7 at JD Equipment.

Agricultural Tractor - 2009 Results and Pictures

Starting at 10:00 AM or 1:00 PM depending on County

1. A clock trophy winner from previous years is not eligible to participate in the same class in the current year. Any previous senior trophy winners of the National Tractor Event are not eligible to participate again.
2. Each county may have three participants in each class according to the age specifications printed.
3. Participants must be enrolled or have interest in the 4-H Tractor or program.
4. J-1 and J-2 will begin at 10:30 AM. and finish with the last driver (around 4 PM).
5. The points-off system will be used with penalty points given for errors. The winner will have the lowest score.
6. The event will be judged outdoors. In case of severe weather conditions, the contest will proceed at the discretion of the superintendent.
7. Awards will be presented at the end of the contests (around 4:30 PM).

Classes:
J-1 Youngest Tractor Division (9-10)
J-2 Junior Tractor Division (Ages 11-13)
J-3 Senior Tractor Division (Ages 14 and older)

These contests are designed to give 4-H members an opportunity to demonstrate their knowledge of tractor maintenance and skill in operation, and to compete with other 4-H'ers in doing so. The contest will include:

Written Examination (20 minutes)

Parts Identification (10 minutes)

Driving a large compact (lawn) tractor through an obstacle course J - 1 only

Two-Wheel Driving Event (8 minutes) J - 2 and J - 3

(Junior Division exempt from 4-wheel driving)

This contest is designed to be a practical demonstration and an attempt has been made to simulate actual farm operating conditions. John Deere tractors will be used with standard equipment. Safety will be stressed throughout the contest.

The J-2 Class is a National Qualifying Event. The winner will earn a place on the Ohio 4-H Engineering team. They will receive an expense paid trip to compete at the
National 4-H Engineering Challenge at Purdue University.
