NIFS Membership Classifications:
Associate membership
This membership is open to any individual who is professionally engaged
in farm safety and/or health education, engineering or research.
Full membership
Any individual presently engaged in eductional, engineering, or research safety and/or health activity with or for farm people and devotes a considerable portion of time to such work and having been so engaged for a minimum of three years, and having served two years as an Associate Member, shall be eligible to make application under this section.
Supporting membership
This membership is open to any individual,
farm, business or organization that makes a minimum annual contribution
to NIFS.
Honorary and Life memberships
These memberships are granted at the
discretion of the Board of Directors to members and non-members who have
made outstanding contributions to the farm safety and health movement.

Issue Committees:
Every member is strongly encouraged to join an NIFS issue committee.
The primary purposes of these committees are to keep members abreast
of current issues and research needs and to identify professional improvement
topics.
The four specialized issue committees are:
- Traffic and Transportation
- Tractors and Machinery
- Rural Occupational Health
- Home, Farmstead, and Leisure Time
