Laboratory Safety Standard

Compliance with the Laboratory Safety Standard was initiated for the College of Food, Agricultural and Environmental Sciences Columbus campus in June, 1998. This standard applies to all departments that deal with wet chemistry on a laboratory scale i.e. operations easily manipulated by one person, large number of chemicals, small quantities of material, multiple procedures used, not part of a production process, etc. Compliance is similar to that for the Hazard Communication Standard with some additional requirements. The following outline should assist you in complying with this regulation. Please call the college safety office if you have any questions or require any assistance.
