All About Agriculture in Belmont County
Belmont County has a very diverse agricultural base.   Total farm income derived from agricultural sales, totals approximately thirteen million dollars.  Dairy, beef, and sheep farms make up the majority of the livestock production.   Crops consists mostly of hay and pasture production.  We also produce many alternative crop enterprises.   These include Commercial Fruit and Vegetable Production and Christmas Tree Production.   Farm markets can be found throughout the county.  Programs offered through the agricultural program include:   Grazing Council Meetings, Pesticide Certifications, Forestry Workshops, and Horticulture Programs.

February 27th - Pesticide Re-certification in Monroe County - (7:00 -10:00 pm) - Senior Citizens Center in Woodsfield

March 13th and April 10th - Dairy Farm Meetings - Programs (1- 2:30 pm)

First date - Landefeld Dairy Farm in Miltonsburg

Second date - Olney Dairy Farm in Barnesville

Master Gardening Training Dates

March 1, 8, 15, 22, 29, April 5, 12, from 9-4:00 pm at the USDA Building in Barnesville -registration required

March 20th - Pond Clinic - 7:00 to 9:00 pm - Roscoe Garage,

C.O.R.N.  Published one a week with the latest information on agronomic crop production.  C.O.R.N. stands for Crop Observation and Recommendation Network.

Ohio Beef Cattle Newsletter Published bi-weekly and contains pertinent information about sheep production.

Buckeye Dairy News  Monthly newsletter covering dairy production topics. 

Ohio Sheep Team Newsletter  Published bi-monthly and contains the latest information about sheep production.

PEP-TALK  Monthly publication from the office of Pesticide Educational Programs at OSU Extension.  Up-to-date information about pesticide registratons, pending legislation, etc.

Ohio Field Crop Diseases  This website contains a new section that addresses concerns about grain molds, the mycotoxins they produce and potential problems when feeding moldy grains to livestock.
