4-H educational goals are to help young people and adult volunteers:
-
acquire skills and knowledge in subject matter areas;
-
develop a positive self-image;
-
learn to respect and get along with others;
-
develop leadership skills and fulfill leadership roles;
-
develop and practice responsible environmental skills;
-
learn and use accepted practices for mental, physical, emotional and social
health;
-
explore and evaluate career and job opportunities;
-
use leisure time productively;
-
participate in community affairs and
-
develop volunteers as individuals and leaders for 4-H and the community.
Impacts
-
4-H International: Stark & Summit County 4-H demonstrated cultural
diversity exploration as shown by ten families hosting students form overseas.
-
4-H Youth participants presented six workshops regarding the culture of
Norway, Japan, and Costa Rica. Over 250 youth and adults experienced
culture diverse activities.

4-H Outdoor Opportunity/Shooting Sports: In Stark & Summit Counties,
fifteen "certified" volunteer instructors provided hands-on learning techniques
regarding wildlife preservation activities, safe and responsible use of
firearms/archery equipment and opened valuable vocational and life-long
recreational opportunities to 45 youth members, while introducing
125 new individuals to this program.

Community Service Projects: Over 800 4-H youth and adults contributed more
than 200,000 hours of community service. 4-H Clubs/members donated time
and monetary support to activities, such as, nursing home visits; yard
care to the elderly; community beautification; and assistance to children
with disabilities and in hospitals.
Life Skills Learned Through Project Work & Activities:

Sixteen hundred and fifty (1650) youth experienced hands-on learning through
their 4-H Club, project and activities.

Five hundred and ten 4-H Volunteer Leaders provided hands-on opportunities
for 1650 4-H Youth.

Stark & Summit County 4-H Youth accomplished over 85% project completion
rate as demonstrated by participation in county judging events. Eighteen
hundred and twenty one (1821) 4-H projects were registered and over 1550
were completed successfully.

Stark County 4-H Horse Bowl Senior Team was State and National Champs!!
-
Fifteen youth were observed practicing conservation ethics while learning
fishing techniques through five certified adult volunteers in our new Sportsfishing
Program.

Sixty urban and suburban youth were observed practicing dog care and dog
obedience as demonstrated in their participation/graduation of the FREE-
Six Week- Stark County 4-H Dog Obedience School.

Stark County 4-H Endowment Fund Campaign achieved an endowed goal set six
years ago. Interest will be generated and awarded to the Stark County
4-H Advisory Committee to enhance local 4-H educational efforts.

Two Adult Volunteer Advisors were recognized for over forty years of volunteer
service to local youth.
