Dean's Scholarship Program

College Scholarship Application for 2007-2008

New and Transfer Students for 2006-2007

Several scholarships ranging in value from $750.00 up to assessed tuition are available to freshmen and first quarter transfer students entering the College of Food, Agricultural, and Environmental Sciences at The Ohio State University. Scholarships will be awarded on the basis of high school or transfer scholastic record and potential for academic success. Other scholarships are based on need, areas of study, geographic residence, experience in 4H/FFA or participation in extracurricular activities.

Eligibility

Evidence of high academic achievement indicated by a combination of class rank, SAT or ACT scores, and grade point average.
Direct enrollment in the College of Food, Agricultural, and Environmental Sciences.
Enrolled first quarter freshmen or transfer student Autumn Quarter - Columbus Campus.
Extra curricular activities will be considered.
Financial need not a criteria.

Selection Process

The deadline for completing the online application is March 1, 2006. The online application is made available via a link on the top of this page from September 1 to March 1 each year.  Consideration will be given to those applicants who complete the Dean's Scholarship Application form and submit proper supporting documentation by the deadline.

Miriam Ruggles Adkins Pickaway County Scholarship Fund

Provides a scholarship to Pickaway County students who are interested in majoring in agriculture.

Agricultural Scholars Fund

Provides scholarship support to any rank student in agriculture.

The William M. and Darlene Aldrige Agriculture Scholarship Fund

Income supports scholarships for students enrolled in the College or ATI who exhibit high moral standards, reside in Highland County , and have graduated from a high school in Highland County , Ohio .

Kyle Althauser Memorial Scholarship

Income provides scholarships to Hardin County students entering studies in agriculture and natural resources. May be renewable for the sophomore year.

Ed Bacome Scholarship

Supports students in the College (married students preferred).

James M. Barrett Family Endowment Fund

Partial income used to provide a scholarship for an entering student from Washington County with 4-H experience.

David and Phyllis Beck Scholarship Fund

Income provides undergraduate and graduate scholarships in the College, with preference given to animal science students from Montgomery and Preble Counties in Ohio .

Ralph E. Bender Scholarship Fund

Follow application procedures as outlined in the Department of Agricultural Education

James F. Berg Scholarship

Provides scholarship for high ability entering freshmen.

Bloom Family Scholarship

Provides scholarship for entering freshman from Ashtabula County with a 4-H background.

Shirley A. Brooks-Jones Scholarship in Agriculture

Income provides scholarships for undergraduate agriculture or natural resources students preferably from Vinton County and other southeastern Ohio residents.

Carl L. and Elizabeth Broughton Scholarship in Agriculture Fund

Income provides undergraduate scholarships for worthy students in educational programs administered by the College with preference to residents of Ohio , West Virginia or Kentucky .

M. H. Brown Family Endowed Scholarship Fund

Income provides scholarships for students in the College to students from Fairfield County .

Lydia D. Bruny Memorial Scholarship

Income provides scholarships for undergraduates from Guernsey, Fairfield or Perry Counties who are in the College.

Helen Sells Clarkson Memorial Scholarship

Income provides scholarships for students majoring in the natural sciences in Food, Agricultural, and Environmental Sciences.

Collegiate Farm Bureau Scholarship

Annual support to an Ohio State University Collegiate Farm Bureau member who is an undergraduate with demonstrated leadership skills and active participation in the club.

Evan J. Crane Memorial Scholarship Fund

Income provides scholarships for worthy and needy undergraduate students, with preference to students from Canal Winchester, Ohio, intending to enroll in the College.

John Deere Minority Recruitment and Retention Fund

Grant supports recruitment and retention activities for minority students including scholarships.

Mary Jane Dovenbarger Scholarship Fund

Income provides a scholarship for an academically able and needy Ashland County undergraduate majoring in agriculture, human ecology or natural resources, with an interest in the 4-H program or other Cooperative Extension work as a career. If no student qualifies, it may be awarded to a graduate student from Ashland County preparing for a career in Extension.

George B. Durell Memorial Scholarship

Income provides renewable scholarship to entering freshmen students in agriculture with high ability.

Nadine Foster and Merrel Quentin Elder Scholarship Fund

Income provides scholarships for students enrolled in the College of Food , Agricultural, and Environmental Sciences, including the School of Natural Resources . First preference is given to students from Coshocton County , Ohio . Second preference is given to students from Ohio .

Samuel B. Erskine 4-H Scholarship Fund

Income funds scholarships for 4-H members, who are high school seniors during application, entering the College or ATI and who are involved in community activities, leadership and citizenship. Preference is for members from Ross, Athens , and other Appalachian Ohio Counties.

Michael Oliver Garraway Memorial Fund

(Special Application Required)

Income supports one half of cost of education expense for full time enrolled student entering agricultural studies at Ohio State from Dominica or West Indies . Renewable for a total of 12 quarters enrollment if academic record is satisfactory.

Jean R. Geisman Memorial Fund

Income provides an undergraduate scholarship in the College to recognize students who demonstrate the qualities of outstanding leadership, scholarship and service as exemplified by Professor Jean R. Geisman.

George G. Greenleaf Agri-Industry Award

Income provides undergraduate scholarships for entering freshmen and a minority agribusiness student.

William Griffith Family Scholarship Endowment Fund

Income supports students enrolled in the College of Food , Agricultural, and Environmental Sciences including entering freshmen. Must be Hardin County resident or adjacent county.

Frederick T. Grimm Scholarship Fund

Income funds scholarships for freshman students who have been enrolled in 4-H/FFA with preference for those from Ottawa and surrounding counties.

Nick and Iris Swartz Hahn Scholarship Fund

Provides scholarships to incoming freshmen in agriculture at Columbus Campus from Hocking, Wyandot, Erie , or Huron counties. Renewable if academic record is satisfactory.

Thomas A. and John E. Hamrick Pickaway County Scholarship Fund

Income provides scholarships for students from Pickaway County who are interested in majoring in the College of Food , Agricultural, and Environmental Sciences, or the College of Human Ecology , and are former Pickaway County 4-H members. Criteria shall include outstanding scholarship achievement and leadership potential, with preference to those with financial need.

Will C. Hauk Memorial Scholarship Fund

Income supports scholarships for students in the Agricultural Honors Program.

Dr. Roger C. and Margery Henderson Memorial Fund in the College of Food , Agricultural, and Environmental Sciences

Income is used for merit scholarships for entering students in the College.

Thomas P. Hennessy Memorial Scholarship Fund

Income provides scholarship support to students from Logan County attending The Ohio State University or any of its regional campuses who have been members of 4-H, FFA, or Family Consumer Sciences in the county with a minimum 2.75 GPA in high school, or a 2.5 GPA in college work completed. Application through and selection made by Logan County Extension.

Hazen and Anna Jane Hildebolt Preble County Scholarship Fund Income provides scholarships for outstanding and needy Preble County students interested in agriculture or human ecology, with preference to Eaton High School seniors.

Robert and Dorothy Hodson Family 4-H Endowment Fund

Income provides scholarships for 4-H members, either current or alumni, of Highland County , Ohio.

Chester S. Hutchinson Scholarship Fund

Income provides scholarships for entering students with high ability in the College.

Charles H. Ingraham and Josephine Dunkle Ingraham 4-H Scholarship Fund

Income provides a scholarship for incoming freshmen from Washington or Morgan Counties enrolled in the College who are present or former 4-H members with outstanding leadership potential and a demonstrated interest in the marketing of agricultural products.

Ed Johnson Scholarship Fund

Scholarship for a current 4-H or FFA student enrolling at the Columbus campus with preferred majors in Ag Communication or Agribusiness. Student must be in the upper 1/3 of high school class and have a record of leadership, citizenship and community service.

Kalmbach Family Scholarship Fund

Income provides scholarships for students in the College with preference to students from Wyandot County who have expressed an interest in or are enrolled in a major in agribusiness or animal science.

Richard H. Kellogg Honors Scholarship Fund

Income provides honors undergraduate scholarships for animal science and dairy science majors.

Victor Kendall Loan Fund

Loans for needy students with majors in natural resources, crop science, plant health management, and agricultural systems management with interest in conservation. Application to and processing by the Office of Student Financial Aid.

Robert R. Kinney Memorial Scholarship

Provide scholarships to African-American students in agriculture with a minimum GPA of 2.50.

Roy M. Kottman Scholars Program

Income provides freshmen with renewable sophomore scholarships, based on academic achievement, leadership, communication skills, enthusiasm and dedication, for undergraduates in programs administered by the College.

Jane Mears Lewis Memorial Scholarship Fund

Income provides scholarships for entering students from Licking Valley High School who demonstrate need, ambition and good citizenship. Preference is given to students in the College of Human Ecology or the College of Food , Agricultural, and Environmental Sciences.

Logan County 4-H Endowment Fund

Supports a 4-H youth from Logan County .

Bert Martin Fund

Supports scholarships for any level undergraduate student in agriculture/natural resources on the Columbus Campus.

Joseph and Nina Mattus Memorial Scholarship

Income provides merit scholarships for high ability entering freshmen students enrolled in the College.

Guy and Jeannette Miller Scholarship Fund

Income provides scholarships for Ohio high school graduates who have an outstanding record in academic work as well as in 4-H Club accomplishments, with awards made in alternate years to students entering the College of Food , Agricultural, and Environmental Sciences or the College of Human Ecology .

The John E. and Charlotte B. Moore 4-H, Minority Scholarship Endowment Fund

Income provides scholarships to incoming minority undergraduate students who are, or have been, members of the 4-H program.

The Ardith K. Nolte Food, Agricultural, and Biological Engineering Scholarship Fund

The annual income shall be used to support scholarships to support incoming freshmen based primarily on scholastic record. The student recipients are expected to join and participate in one of the departmental clubs, and attend at least two-thirds of regular club meetings.

Carl F. and Marjorie Cottingham Obenauf Merit Scholarship

Income provides agricultural merit scholarships for undergraduate U.S. citizens intending to major in food science in the College.

Bob Rodabaugh Agricultural Scholarship Fund

Provides scholarships for student enrolled in agriculture from Madison or contiguous counties.

Clarence A. and Beatrice E. Rohrbach Scholarship Fund

(Special Application Required)

Provides scholarship support to students in the College including Ag Engineering whose attendance, along with siblings, at The Ohio State University has established the greatest number of quarters of attendance.

C. E. Rowland Memorial Scholarship Fund

Income provides scholarships for students from Clark County entering the College of Food , Agricultural, and Environmental Sciences or Human Ecology. Application to and selection by the Clark County Extension staff.

Carl Ruff Memorial Fund

Income provides scholarships for juniors or seniors in the College with outstanding leadership potential and above average scholastic achievement, with preference to students with a strong 4-H background. Excess income supports the International 4-H Youth Exchange Program (IFYE).

George E. Ruff Scholarship Fund (State FFA Officer only)

Provides a scholarship to an undergraduate student in the college who has held a state officer position in the FFA and has a 3.0 or better GPA.

Donald H. Russ Scholarship Fund

Income provides scholarships for students from Carroll County , Ohio in the College.

Service-Jerome Scholarship Fund

Income provides one or more scholarships to students from Ashtabula County preferably, but not limited to, entering freshmen enrolling in the College of Food, Agricultural, and Environmental Sciences and/or the College of Human Ecology, or the ATI.

Lloyd G. and Virginia Sharp Memorial Scholarship Fund for Carroll County

Income provides scholarships to students from Carroll County entering or enrolled in either The Ohio State University College of Food, Agricultural, and Environmental Sciences or the Agricultural Technical Institute at Wooster . Criteria for selection will include scholarship, leadership and participation in extracurricular activities.

William Skou Memorial Scholarship (Floriculture only) - Follow application procedures as outlined in the Department of Horticulture and Crop Science. Recipients of this scholarship can apply for a second year renewal award.

Paul Smucker Scholarship

Provides scholarship support for an entering food science student.

State Science Fair Scholarship

Provides renewable scholarship to winner of the food and agriculture category at the state science fair. Student must be enrolled in agriculture and maintain a

3.3 GPA.

C. B. and Ardis H. Stewart Scholarship Fund

Income provides scholarships to entering freshmen who are residents of Wood County , Ohio .

Robert F. Suerdieck Scholarship Fund - Income is to provide scholarships for students in good academic standing in the College.

Roy and Virginia Hyde Sultzbach Memorial Scholarship

Income supports merit scholarships to high ability entering students with opportunity to renew annually if conditions are met.

Frances Vivian Loan Fund

Small short term loans to agricultural students administered by the Office of Student Financial Aid.

Paul A. and Betty L. Whittington Endowed Scholarship Fund

Income provides scholarships for undergraduate students in the College of Food , Agricultural, and Environmental Sciences with first preference to students who have graduated from East Clinton High School . The second preference shall be given to students from Clinton County , Ohio .
