This web link provides information about Ohio State University Extension and Outreach. Extension serves as a front door to The Ohio State University in all 88 Ohio counties. Practical educational programs blend the needs of local citizens and communities, new research results and technical information.

The OSU Extension mission is to help improve the lives of Ohioans. Educational programs are based on scientific knowledge and focus on critical issues and needs. Extension professionals and more than 34,000 trained volunteers provide research-based information in communities through educational programs, radio and television broadcasts, newsletters, videotapes, satellite broadcasts, publications, computer software and responses to telephone inquiries.

Extension is the nation’s largest non-formal educational system. Programs focus on the economy; the environment; and family, individuals and youth development; and leadership in four program areas:
Agriculture and Natural Resources
Family and Consumer Sciences
4-H Youth Development
Community Development

OSU Extension is a component of the overall Outreach and Engagement initiative of The Ohio State University. Through partnerships with 15 colleges, 45 academic departments and 3 regional campuses, OSU CARES establishes new or enhanced outreach/engagement efforts to connect the resources and educational services of the university with communities the university services. OSU Learning Centers connect people in Ohio to educational opportunities using video conferencing, distance learning, and high speed Internet connectivity. Programs include credit and non-credit courses, student services, alumni services, and applied research.

An OSU Extension partnership with the Office of Continuing Education creates new programs for continuing professional development, certification, and academic credit throughout the state.

Ohioline features on-line fact sheets to assist Ohioans with many practical problems.
