For press jobs the following programs should be used: PageMaker 6.5 or 7.0, Quark 4.1, InDesign 1.5.2 or 2, Illustrator 9.0 or Freehand 9.0. Word can be used if the job is one color only.
For color copier jobs the following programs may be used: PageMaker 6.5, Word 2000, PowerPoint 2000, Publisher 2000, Acrobat 4.0 or Excel 2000.
Networked color copies are produced at 24 pages per minute for 8.5 X 11. The minimum sheet size is 8.5 X 11 and the maximum sheet size is 12 X 18.
All requests must be accompanied by a Printing & Supply Form and if there is a charge, we must have a 100-W before a job can be picked up.
The time required to produce a publication depends on the type of publication, the size of the publication, and the workload currently in the office. Generally, jobs that require the least amount of time fall into the following categories: brochures, certificates, departmental series, leaflets, flyers, newsletters, and programs.
Publications that are more complex such as Research Bulletins, Circulars and Special Circulars require more time. Rewrites, changes, and additions to the original material add time to the process and require extra steps. Copy that is not transferred by computer disk or e-mail requires more time because of the key-stroking and proofreading involved to assure the accuracy of the information. Turnaround time is also influenced by the editing and the complexity of design.
These guidelines have been demonstrated to be reasonable in view of the usual workload in the office. No guarantees are extended to those who ignore these guidelines. These are the minimum turnaround times needed to complete standard jobs:
Requests for business cards must be accompanied by a Reproduction Requisition form. C&T provides an initial order of 200 business cards to faculty and other personnel who work closely with the public.
Additional cards are provided at no cost when there is a change in name, title, address, telephone number, or University logo. A charge of $12 per 100 is assessed for new orders that do not involve or result from the changes listed earlier. A 100-W should accompany requests.
