Buckeye Yard and Garden Line (BYGL)
This weekly newsletter discuses insect, disease and cultural problems reported in Ohio. BYGL is developed from a Tuesday morning conference call of Extension agents, specialists, and other contributors in Ohio. There are 27 issues published during the growing season. BYGL is available on the Internet from the Ohio State University Horticulture and Crop Science (HCS) in Virtual Perspective web site.

BYGL is a service of OSU Extension and is aided by major support from the Ohio Nursery and Landscape Association (ONLA), with additional funding from the Ohio Chapter of the International Society of Arboriculture (ISA) to the OSU Extension Nursery Landscape, and Turf Team (ENLTT).

Diagnostic Services
It is usually recommended that commercial clients send their samples directly to the C. Wayne Ellet Plant Pest Diagnostic Clinic. Fees vary depending upon type of sample and tests conducted.

Cuyahoga county extension operates an in-house diagnostic clinic. This clinic utilizes visual diagnostics only. There is a $5 fee per sample. Forms can be requested from our office. The quality of the diagnosis depends upon the quality of the sample. Please provide a generous sample which includes both infected and non infected tissues. A report will be sent via eMail or ground mail.

Pesticide Testing & Recertification

ALL reservations and scheduling for pesticide testing MUST BE DONE THROUGH The Ohio Department of Agriculture web site.

Cuyahoga County: TBA. If you can't find a date in Cuyahoga county, you could try for a date in Lorain county (below). However, make reservations through ODA.

Recertification for Private Applicators
We receive only a few requests for private applicator recertification each year. Therefore we refer private applicators to Lake county (eastsiders) or to Lorain county (westsiders). The Lorain county date is past for this year. Look for seasonal programming that offers recertification credit.
