Horticulture Pages

What is Horticulture?

Horticulture is defined as:

The science and art of growing fruit, flowers, ornamental plants, and vegetables.

OR

The science of cultivating plants.

For our purposes it includes farming, landscaping and gardening for both homeowners and commercial businesses.

The Horticulture program in Cuyahoga County falls into four main categories:

Consumer Horticulture addresses questions and concerns from homeowners about landscape and gardening questions and concerns.

Commercial Horticulture provides links and useful information for businesses in the green industry--landscapers, garden centers, turf care professionals and nurseries.

Master Gardener pages give information about the Master Gardener program in Cuyahoga County. Master Gardener volunteers undergo horticulture training and continuing education. With this back ground they provide educational resources and programs to consumers in the county.

The Community Gardening program provides educational resources to community gardens within the county. For over 27 years, this program has been fulfilling its mission to provide resources to help people grow food to eat, develop skills to live by, and build stronger communities and healthier environments.
