  ·      Some of the graphs are missing a bar(s).  This occurred because of the scale that was used to generate the graph.  The raw number appears even when there is no bar.

  ·       The 1998 population estimates by age, race, and sex table includes Hispanic males and females.  The category Hispanic may be of any race so this group is not included in the “total all” column.

  ·       The poverty rate is the ratio of persons below the poverty to the total number of persons for whom poverty status has been determined.  For the year 2000 the poverty threshold for a family of four was $17,463.

  ·       Average daily enrollment is the aggregate days of attendance for the school year plus aggregate days of absence for students in K – 12 (including preschool, handicapped, and ungraded) divided by total days in session.

  ·       Expenditure per pupil is the total current operating costs per K – 12 student.

  ·       Dropout rate is defined as the percentage of students in grade 7 – 12 who are reported as dropouts from the beginning of one school year to the beginning of the subsequent school year.

  ·       Net migration is the number of in-migrants minus the number of out-migrants.  Migration occurs when there is a change of residence.  A positive number indicates more people moved into the county whereas a negative number indicates more people moved out of the county.
