Reading assignments: It is important that you read the assigned sections from the textbook before coming to class so that we can spend more time solving problems in order to improve our problem solving skills.
Exams: There will be two 2 hr term exam with an optional final exam.
Homework: There will be one homework assignment each week on Tuesday and the assignments will be collected following Tuesday by 5pm. Homework assignments for each week will be posted on the course web page. You are expected to turn your homework assignments on time to be considered for full credit. Points will be deducted from late homework assignments. 20 points will be subtracted from homework assignment grade for each day after due date.
Homework is a valuable learning tool, so you should try to solve every problem on your own. You are encouraged to seek help from your instructor and TA. You may work together in small groups to complete an assignment. This does not mean you may simply copy solutions from a classmate or from solution sets from previous years to which you might have access. Presenting someone else's work as your own is plagiarism.
Labs : There will be 2 labs for the course.
Lab 1: Application of MATLAB to data analysis (interpolation, extrapolation, curve fitting, integration)
Lab 2: Pressure drop and pump performance laboratory
Term project : There will be one term project due March 8, 2006. For more information click on the hyperlink.
