Poster Contest Rules

Goal:
Provide students an opportunity to reinforce and display their knowledge of how fish swim and breathe, differences between like species, sensory features and abilities of fish, and special adaptations of fish to water.

Rules:
1. Students are eligible if they participated in classroom 4-H FISHY SCIENCE.
2. Students may choose their own poster title about any specific item of knowledge they gain through the project.
3. Standard poster board or poster paper of any color may be used. Poster size should not exceed 14"x24" (half size).
4. Crayons, magic markers, chalk, water colors or other methods of drawing or printing may be used.
5. Each poster should be the work of the individual student, not a group of students. However, assistance by the classroom teacher or art teacher is encouraged.
6. The back of each poster submitted for the county contest must be identified with the student's name and complete address, grade, school, and teacher's name.

Judging:
Each classroom that has completed the "Fishy Science" 4-H Project may submit three (3) posters as selected by the classroom teacher to be entered in the final county judging. Quiz entries must reach the County Extension Office by May 5th. Please note identification needed (Rule #6).

A. Application of Theme 25%
B. Quality of Content 25%
C. Construction & Neatness 25%
D. Originality 25%

Awards:
1. Awards for "Outstanding Classroom Poster" will be presented to the three students in each classroom whose posters are selected for the county contest.
2. Rosettes will be awarded to the top 15 winners in the county. All posters entered will be exhibited at the Fairfield County Fair, and will entitle those students to a grade ribbon and premium money from the Fairboard.

Dates:
Poster composition should begin during or upon completion of the project. After the three posters from each classroom are chosen, deliver them to OSU Extension-Fairfield County, 831 College Avenue, Suite D, Lancaster, Ohio 43130, ATTN: Hannah Kohler by May 5th. Winners of the county contest will be announced and have awards presented in the classrooms during May.
