  1. Ohio Saves Campaign

Ohio Saves is intended as an Ohio-wide campaign to encourage regular savings among Ohio citizens. Currently, three extension-based campaigns are running in Ohio: Columbus Saves, Hancock County/Ohio Saves, Miami Valley Saves (includes nine counties). Five to ten counties in Ohio are going to launch a campaign in 2007, e.g. Fairfield County, Crawford County, Belmont County, Mahoning County, Allen and Auglaize counties.

  2. New$tart Debtor Education

This program is a Department of Justice approved, educational program for bankruptcy filers. New $tart fulfills filers' requirement for pre-discharge financial education, a mandatory requirement since October 2006. The required 2-hour classes on financial management are currently offered in 39 counties in Ohio and since October 2006 more than 50 individuals have participated in the workshops. For 2007, additional counties will be recruited to offer the program, a revised evaluation tool will examine planned behavior changes and a profile of participants, and expanded marketing will include an updated website for consumers.

The NEFE High School Financial Planning Program® (HSFPP) is aimed at increasing the financial literacy of America's youth. The six-unit program provides teens with a greater understanding of and ability to manage their personal finances in the areas of financial planning, careers, budgeting, saving & investing, credit, and insurance. In 2006, presentations and program materials reached more than 200 Ohio teachers and adult volunteers; revision reviews completed. For 2007, the revised materials will be marketed and teacher trainings expanded.
