Master's Advising Guide:
Core Requirements for All Master of Science Students

The Master of Science degree indicates that a person earning the degree has gained additional knowledge and necessary skills in the field in order to engage in research and other scholarly activities, to teach, and to become practitioners. Candidates are expected to have a broad knowledge of agricultural education and specific expertise in an emphasis area.

Required Courses in Agricultural Education

Students will complete courses in each of the following areas: Foundations, Research/Inquiry, Departmental Core, Seminar, and Electives.

Foundations 3 Hours
AGR EDUC 800 (History and Philosophy) 3 Hours
 
Research/Inquiry 3 Hours
AGR EDUC 885 (Research Methods) 3 Hours
 
Departmental Core
Take three of the following four courses:
9 Hours
AGR EDUC 823 (Program Planning) 3 Hours
AGR EDUC 831 (Teaching/Learning) 3 Hours
AGR EDUC 840 (Communication) 3 Hours
AGR EDUC 811 (Administration and Leadership) 3 Hours
 
Seminar 1 Hour
AGR EDUC 795.01 or 693 (Graduate Study in Agricultural Education) 1 Hour
 
Electives 4 Hours

  • AGR EDUC 631 or JOUR 571 will be required as a foundation course for conditional admission of students lacking either an education or communication undergraduate background.
  • Students without course work or experience in the international arena are encouraged to include a global/international dimension (course, seminar, or experience) in their program.
