Job Title: Research Food Scientist

Location:Springdale, Ohio (Northern suburb of Cincinnati)

Department:R & D/Technical Services with John Morrell & Co. (A division of Smithfield Foods with sales exceeding 2 billion dollars)

Outline of Duties:This individual will become involved with new product development, product and/or process improvement and technical support for our processing facilities. The person in this position will have contact with corporate quality control, regulatory, sales and marketing staff as well as plant operation staff and outside customers.

Education: Minimum of Masters in Meat Science, Animal Science, Food Science, Food Technology or related field.

Experience: Experience desired but not required. Plant experience working with smoked and processed meats, ingredients, regulatory and labeling would be helpful.

Special Skills Required:Ability to follow through new product testing from concept and pilot plant development through production at the plant level. Over time, this individual would need to develop knowledge of our pilot plant equipment as well as our related process systems found in our plants. A mechanical aptitude for hands on testing would also be helpful.
