CINCINNATI – Officials with Pierre Foods, Inc. announced yesterday the completion of the purchase of a majority of the assets of Zartic, Inc., Rome, Ga. Plans for the acquisition of the 31-year-old company, which manufactures and distributes meat and poultry products for the foodservice industry, were announced this past month.

Preliminary terms of the deal were for $94 million plus liabilities and included Zartic’s distribution company, Zar Tran, Inc.

Pierre officials say the addition of Zartic will expand its position as a leading manufacturer and marketer of pre-cooked products and hand-held convenience sandwiches.
