Owens Named Next CEO at Bob Evans Farms

    Stewart K. Owens, 44, was elected to serve as the CEO of Columbus,

    Ohio-based Bob Evans Farms Inc. by that company's board of

    directors. The appointment is effective April 29.

 

    Last August, the company announced that Daniel E. Evans, chairman

    and CEO, would step down as CEO in April.

 

    Owens, 44, has been Bob Evans Farms' president since 1995 and its

    chief operating officer for an additional year. Dan Evans, 63, has been

    the company's chairman and CEO since 1971 and intends to continue

    as chairman through April 2001. The board expects to name Owens

    chairman in April 2001, the company said.

 

    The Bob Evans' board of directors also declared a quarterly dividend of

    nine cents a share on the corporation's outstanding common stock

    (one cent par value). The dividend is payable March 1, to stockholders

    of record at the close of business on Feb. 18.

 

    Bob Evans Farms. is produces pork sausage under the Bob Evans and

    Owens Country Sausage brand names and operates family restaurants

    in Midwest and Southeast markets.
