Downers Grove, Ill.-based Sara Lee Corp. will donate the land on which its now-closed deli meat plant sits in Camp Washington, Ohio, to state officials for a new jail.

Hamilton County Commissioners gave the green light for land donation on Wednesday, saying the gift would reduce the cost of the new jail by $7.5 million, the Cincinnati Business Courier reported. Local officials have been looking for an appropriate location and funding for the prison project for several years.

Sara Lee announced the plant's closing last spring and moved production to other facilities. The move eliminated about 350 jobs at the plant, which produced lunchmeat under the Hillshire Farm, Kahn's and Sara Lee brands.
