September 24, 2001 - White Castle Opens New Ohio Meat Processing Facilty

White Castle is hosting a ribbon cutting ceremony for their latest meat processing facility today (Sept. 24) at 4:30 p.m. at 1500 Ritchey Parkway in the Airport Industrial Park in Zanesville, Ohio, according to a news release.

Members of the local media, business community and government will join a number of White Castle representatives, including Bill Ingram, president and chief operating officer, in the celebration.

The grand opening features a ceremonial ribbon cutting, with Jack Fenton, Zanesville mayor, doing the honors. Attendees will be treated to White Castle hamburgers, various finger foods, cake and ice cream from hometown favorite Tom's Ice Cream Bowl.

This facility is the third such meat processing plant for White Castle, with similar facilities in operation in Orleans and Lebanon, Ind.

More than 50 people will be employed at the 34,000-square foot plant. White Castle also operates its own bakeries in Evendale, Ohio, Carteret, N.J., and Renssalaer, Ind. Frozen food production facilities are located in Louisville and Covington, Ky. The manufacturing arm of the corporation, PSB Company, operates in Columbus and Dayton, Ohio, and in Rome, Ga.

Columbus, Ohio-based White Castle and operates 348 restaurants in 12 states. The company was founded in Wichita, Kan., in 1921, and was the first fast-food hamburger chain.
