WOOSTER, Ohio — Haim Nerson, Volcani Center, Israel, will present “Effects of Plant Density and Pollen-load on Seed Production of Cucurbit Crops,” 11 a.m.-noon, Friday, March 30, in Columbus and by video simulcast in Wooster.

A professor in the center’s vegetable crops department, currently a visiting scientist with Ohio State University’s Ornamental Plant Germplasm Center, Nerson specializes in seed physiology and germination, whole plant physiology, and crop physiology.

Understanding how plant density and pollen-load affect the seeds of cucurbits — cucumbers, squashes, pumpkins, gourds — can lead to maximum seed yield and vigor, Nerson says.

Attend in 244 Kottman Hall on Ohio State’s Columbus campus, 2021 Coffey Rd., or in 121 Fisher Auditorium on the Wooster campus of the Ohio Agricultural Research and Development Center (OARDC), 1680 Madison Ave.

For details about the lecture, part of an ongoing series by Ohio State’s Department of Horticulture and Crop Science, contact series coordinator Rich Pratt, (330) 263-3972, pratt.3@osu.edu.
