Ohio No-Till Conference Slated for Dec. 8 Writer: Randall Reeder PLAIN CITY, Ohio – How to cut no-till costs and using cover crops in no-till production will be the featured themes at this year’s Ohio No-Till Conference taking place on Dec. 8. The conference program runs from 9 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. at Der Dutchman Restaurant in Plain City, Ohio. Registration is $20 before Dec. 2 and $25 at the door. It includes refreshments, lunch and conference materials. Participants can receive Certified Crop Advisor credits. The conference is sponsored by the Ohio No-Till Council in cooperation with Ohio State University Extension and the U.S. Department of Agriculture-Natural Resources Conservation Service. Topics and speakers include: • New and Emerging Cover Crops, Steve Groff, Cedar Meadow Farm, Holtwood, PA. • Nutrient Management with Cover Crops, Ed Winkle, Hymark Consulting, Martinsville, OH. • Cover Crops Research Results, Alan Sundermeier, OSU Extension educator, Wood County; Rafiq Islam, OSU soil scientist; David Brandt, no-till farmer, Carroll, OH. • Cover Crops: Farmer Panel, Steve Groff, Ed Winkle and Dave Brandt. • Controlling Weeds in No-Till, Mark Loux, OSU Extension weed management specialist. • Manure Management on No-Till, Bob Slicker, no-till farmer, Canal Fulton, OH; Bob Featheringill, no-till farmer, Attica, OH; Mark Wilson, Land Stewards, Marion, OH. The conference will also include the No-Till Awards, presented this year to Rafiq Islam, Educator/Researcher Award; Nester Ag Management, Business/Industry Award; and Bob Slicker, Outstanding No-Till Farmer Award.
