OSU Extension to Hold a Baitfish Culture Workshop, Nov. 12

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – Two renowned baitfish research and Extension specialists from the University of Arkansas will be the featured speakers during an Ohio State University Extension baitfish culture workshop on November 12.

The event, hosted by the OSU Aquaculture Research and Development Integration Program of OSU South Centers at Piketon, will take place from 1:30 p.m. until 5 p.m. at the Agricultural Incubator Foundation Center, 13737 Middleton Pike (State Rt. 582), Bowling Green, Ohio. Registration is $15 per person.

Carol Engle, center director and chair of University of Arkansas Aquaculture and Fisheries Department, will present “Growing an Aquaculture Industry – Lessons from Arkansas.” Nathan Stone, University of Arkansas Extension aquaculture specialist, will present “Culture techniques for baitfish in Arkansas.”

Other topics being covered during the workshop include pond fertilization overview, Ohio baitfish retailers survey, and an overview of OSU baitfish research. The workshop will also include a tour of the Bowling Green aquaculture facilities.
