Monika Aring is an internationally recognized expert on how countries can grow their economies by growing the skills of their citizenry so they can participate in the global economy.  Prior to working at OSU, she founded and directed the Center for Workforce Development at EDC, an international R&D organization founded by Harvard and MIT, where she worked in 24 countries on every continent; identifying best practice in private sector led workforce development systems for USAID and the Asian Development Bank.  A skilled facilitator, she has led a number of stakeholder workshops for leaders in Latin America, Africa, the U.S., India, and Central Asia. Ms Aring’s work has been featured by the International Herald Tribune, National Public Radio, Fortune Magazine, and professional journals.  She conceptualized and co-directed the first large scale empirical study documents how, why, when, and where people learn informally in high performing workplaces, including Motorola, Boeing, Ford, Siemens, and other firms.  Ms. Aring is a graduate of Harvard University’s JFK School of Government, where she received a Master’s in Public Administration.  She is listed in Who’s Who of Women of the New Millennium.  Contact: aring.3@osu.edu or go to www.cete.org
