Kevin:
Probably in the past thirty out of fifty-two years of horticultural
testing/consulting our field consultants have used several different
makes and models of portable ECe/pH meters.
It has been our experience that as far as durablity the Myron L
conductivity meter, AG5 I believe, is excellent, but a little expensive.
We have had extremely good luck with your meter, DiST4WP by Hanna, also
we found that by keeping a cotton ball soaked in D/I water seems to
extend its life. Regretably, we have had marginal success with
Cole-Parmer's TDSTestr series, and have had too little experience with
Cardy's model to comment.
As for portable pH meter, we currently use Hanna's product due to cost
and expect to trash it after a few months. Unfortunately, we have yet
to find a reliable and inexpensive portable pH meter. Even in our bench
top models the electrodes give out after a short time.
Hope this helps.
Sincerley,
Michael Rodebaugh
