Tibouchina (Brazilian Glorybush)
Tibouchina semidecandra
General: Large velvety violet-blue flowers top vigorous pest-resistant
foliage. Height ranges from 1.5' to 4'. Flowers mid-summer until frost. Good
for containers and in gardens.
Production: 1 liner per 6" pot, 1 gallon or 2 gallon container
Culture: Scheduling: 10-12 weeks from liner to finished 6" pot; 16-20 weeks
from liner to finish 1 gallon container
Pinching: Pinch once for fullness
Light: Full sun to very light shade (30%)
Temperature: Moderate temperatures, minimum 55°F nights/62°F days Water:
Moderate Fertilization: 150-250 ppm N constant liquid feed from a complete
fertilizer. Leach every 3rd or 4th watering to avoid foliage-damaging
soluble salts build-up.
Problems: None serious
