I had the same problem with the roots not moving out. I called the
supplier and he basically told me that Merrit Supreme was the worst variety
for not rooting out. He told me to be sure to put on a fungicide drench,
let them them dry out JUST to the point where they begin to wilt, finally
keep them cool. I know we had a bunch of cloudy weather the last few
months and when the sun came out they really went down, but they always
came back. The last comment the supplier made was that one shouldn't grow
Merrit Supreme in the winter because of that same problem...I wish my
broker would have looked into that before he ordered them! Let me know if
I can be of anymore help!
