Winterberry/dahlia bulbs

We picked up a couple of  cuttings of winterberry for personal use.  Anyone
have any info on them?  The people we got them from said they thrive in wet
shade.  Has anyone else heard this?

Also, we have some dahlia bulbs from last summer.  Should we just plant
them, or do they have to dry out first?

Any info on these topics would be appreciated.
