We have a limited amount of data which indicates a good response of Kale to
B-Nine when applied at 1250 to 2500 ppm, either to young plugs (6 to 11
days old) or to plants about 2 weeks after transplanting. These plants
were about 25% shorter than untreated plants at about 35 days after
treatment. If the plants are held longer, they may need a second
application. Kale also responds well to Bonzi sprays at 0.5 to 2 ppm on
plugs, or about 5 ppm young plants after transplanting. We have little
data on B-Nine for older plants, but I would expect a response at rates of
2500 to 5000 ppm. We get little response from Bonzi sprays on older
plants. Drenches of Bonzi can be used effectively on older plants (7 to 9
weeks) at 5 to 10 ppm drench. On mature kale plants, Bonzi drenches of 20
ppm can be used to hold the crop. With Bonzi, in adition to growth
control, the color is enhances for both red and white varieties. We have
also seen the color enhancement from B-Nine, but not as consistent as with
Bonzi. Data is from TX and CA; in the midwest I would use the lower rates
until you get a better feel for the response.

Anyone have experience they want to share on the use of B-9 on flowering
Kale? How much, How often, etc. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
