The Columbus Campus Area

Mirror LakeThe Columbus campus is situated in an exciting urban setting with the variety of cultural activities and nightlife you would expect from a large metropolitan area. Sandwiched between historic Clintonville and the Short North/Arena district and a twenty minute bus ride from downtown, the Ohio State campus is the perfect place for interns who wish to explore what the city has to offer. For music fans, there is always a steady stream of local and national live acts playing at the many small and medium sized venues in the area. Everything from local punk rock at campus bars, jazz, classical and folk music at small theatres, to international rock groups playing to thousands at the Schottenstien arena - all within a few miles of campus.

Art lovers will enjoy the fantastic Columbus Museum of Art and the many smaller exhibits around town, as well as the Gallery Hop, a monthly social event that takes over the Short North in the warmer months. Weekly summer festivals like Comfest, the Jazz and Rib Festival and others are a great opportunity to spend time outside in the City's many parks, while getting a real look at the city and its residents. Shopping at the campus area and Short North boutiques is a unique experience, and the city also offers two new mega malls: the Easton Town Center, an indoor-outdoor shopping and entertainment complex on the city's northeast side; and Polaris Fashion Place, a mega upscale fashion mall to the north. In addition, Columbus boasts more bars and restaurants per capita than almost any other major city in the United States-clustered in neighborhoods like the German Village, the Brewery District and North Campus, the variety of ethnic and upscale restaurants, pubs and clubs will keep your evenings busy.
