Ohio Raspberry Pre-Season Price Survey
June 2001
The tables below summarize the results of the Raspberry price survey conducted during June, 2001. Package sizes reported were lbs., half pints,
pints, quarts, and gallons. Lines in the table showing the minimum, average and maximum price represent three or more reports for that variety, market
type, and container size. All prices within a variety and market type were converted to a pound equivalent price and then averaged to to derive "All
Rpts - $/lb." That allowed use of data where there were only one or two reports for a particular container size.
Black raspberries dominated with 57 percent of the reported bearing acreage. Red spring varieties followed with 26 percent of the acreage. Red
fall varieties were in third place with 14 percent of the acreage. Purple and golden varieties together represent about 3 percent of the acreage with
purple having slightly more acres.
These are the prices producers intend to charge for raspberries in markets where the producer sets the price. Later surveys will attempt to determine
what producers actually receive for their berries in all markets.
Large commercial growers who sell only to the commercial markets were not included in this survey.
